What to Expect
If you have never done yoga, the first time can feel intimidating. We get it. The Beginners Yoga class is specifically built so you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. The teacher will introduce themselves, ask if anyone is brand new (you will not be the only one), and walk the class through every posture with clear cues.
The Format
- Length: 60 minutes
- Pace: Slow. We hold each posture long enough for you to find it and breathe in it.
- Postures: Foundational shapes like Mountain, Down Dog, Cat-Cow, Warrior I and II, Child's Pose, Cobra. No headstands, no handstands, no inversions.
- Modifications: Offered for every posture. If a shape does not work for your body, we have a version that does.
- Savasana: Every class ends with 5-10 minutes of guided relaxation. This is often students' favorite part.
What to Wear & Bring
Wear stretchy clothes you can move in — leggings or shorts, a t-shirt or tank top. Avoid loose tops that fall over your head in down dog. Bring water. That is it. We provide mats, blocks, blankets, bolsters, and straps.
How Often Should I Come?
If you want to actually feel the benefits — less back pain, better sleep, more flexibility, less stress — we recommend twice a week for the first month. After that, most students settle into 2-3 times a week.
Common Worries
"I am not flexible." Perfect. Yoga makes you flexible. Inflexible people benefit the most.
"I am older / out of shape / have an injury." Tell the teacher before class. We modify. Yoga is for every body.
"I will look stupid." Everyone is focused on their own mat. No one is looking at you. We promise.
